Give it a go! Orienteering

Ever wondered what orienteering is?  or seen those orange and white markers around the park and thought what is that? Come and find out at Yeovil Country Park.  We are offering an exciting opportunity for beginners to 'have a go' at orienteering and for experienced orienteers to have a challenging run out.  In conjunction with the Quantock Orienteers who will be supporting and demonstrating what to do, we are re-launching our improved collection of courses at Yeovil Country Park. Come and give it a go on a selection of timed routes ranging in ability and terrain including some suitable for families. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
The Quantock orienteers will have timers to borrow, and a leaderboard..so it can be as competitive or relaxed as you wish!  

Course Information:

Short easy approximately 1km, 30m climb, suitable for beginners and young families (roughly equivalent to yellow orienteering standard).

Medium moderate, approximately 1.8km, 45m climb suitable for those with some experience and older beginners/families.

Long Challenging, approximately 6km, 150m climb. Suitable for experienced orienteers and runners. 16 or over only unless accompanied by an adult.

Fees: individual £1.50, families with up to four maps £3.00
